Santa Rosa County District Schools is aware of social media posts associated with the "Cat in the Hat" trend that have been circulating online.
We understand that messages like these can be concerning to students, families, and staff. Please know that Santa Rosa County District Schools takes all potential threats seriously. Local law enforcement agencies are aware of the situation and are actively monitoring it. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority.
Out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement and security personnel will be present on and around our campuses this week.
Students who receive messages connected to this trend should not respond or engage. Instead, they should report the message to a parent or guardian, school administrator, or law enforcement official. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report any concerning activity to Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office at 850-983-1190 or Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers at 850-437-STOP (7867).
While we do not want to create unnecessary alarm, we take school safety very seriously and are sharing this information to keep our families informed. The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we appreciate the continued support and partnership of our families and community.
Representatives from Math and Science, Workforce Education, our high school leadership team, and the National Flight Academy came together to explore an exciting opportunity for our students. The group spent the morning learning more about the innovative, hands-on experiences offered through the National Flight Academy in Pensacola and discussing how we can work together to create a pathway for high school students to participate.
Through collaboration and a shared vision, we are working to connect students with meaningful experiences that inspire curiosity, build valuable skills, and help them reach new heights!

Join the Drones in School Teacher Workshop on Saturday, October 17 at the Santa Rosa Center for Innovation and discover how drone racing can engage students while building skills in STEM, arts, and entrepreneurship. Participants will learn to fly FPV racing drones, use drone simulation software, and explore ways to bring this innovative program into the classroom.
Breakfast and lunch are provided, and eligible participants may receive stipends and starter kit incentives.

SRCDS, in partnership with the Santa Rosa Band of the Lower Muscogee, has completed a groundbreaking K-12 Southeastern Native American curriculum, the first comprehensive program of its kind designed for students across all grade levels.
This collaborative effort will provide students with authentic, locally relevant learning experiences that celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Southeastern Native American peoples.
Thank you to the Santa Rosa Band of the Lower Muscogee, University of West Florida, Pensacola Historic Trust, and all who helped make this historic achievement possible.
