Important Parent Information

The Florida Department of Health has created materials to inform parents and guardians of pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first-grade students about the early signs of Type 1 diabetes. These resources are now available on the Department of Health’s website and include a flyer (attached) featuring a QR code linking directly to additional information.

Parents & Families - Great news for students who ride a bus! 🚌

We have installed tablets on all the buses to assist with bus tracking reminders. To help us get the most out of the tablets and ensure you are receiving accurate and timely notifications, please go into the My Ride K-12 app and adjust your settings (see photo) and make sure to turn on these 3 features. These features are essential to getting the most out of the tablets!

The Student Choice Event, hosted by Chartwells K12, was a success earlier this week! Students at Milton High School got to taste-test the brand-new Chicken Smackers and cast their vote for the ultimate dipping sauce showdown: Sriracha Honey Mustard vs. Dip'N Sauce.

It was close, but Dip'N Sauce took the crown—just 3 votes ahead! 🏆

Rooms App - Issue Resolved 📱

The login issue impacting Rooms access on iOS (Apple) devices has been fully resolved. The root cause was linked to a an issue with the AWS outage. Rooms should now be operating normally. iOS users can log in through the mobile app without issue. Please use the phone number on file, enter the verification code, and you will be logged in.

School: Navarre High School
Grade: 11
Nomination: Mia Segura from Raiders4Rescue has been nominated for Student of the Week by NHS. As a junior, Mia is involved with numerous organizations at school. She founded and leads R4R, a group that helps address the overpopulation of shelter dogs and cats by raising awareness and supporting local rescue shelters in Escambia and Santa Rosa county through cleanups, donations, and ongoing assistance. Mia is also active in several honor societies, Student Government, Mock Trial, History Club, Interact Club, Class Board, and the Raider Gem dance team. Outside of school, she participates in the local Lambda Epsilon Chi honor society (for paralegal/legal studies), Youth Diplomats, SRC Jr. Leadership, and other leadership organizations. She is a dual-enrolled student at PSC and takes AP classes at her high school. Mia is always ready to help others and her community. When she has free time, she works at her family’s business, volunteers at animal shelters, spends time with loved ones, or enjoys the beach.

Congratulations to Gulf Breeze High School student, Christian Burgess, on his outstanding achievement at the 2025 Incubate Debate Fall Championship, held October 13 and 14 at Jacksonville University.

Christian ranked fourth place out of over 70 participants, while exhibiting rigor, grit, and dedication to debate and public speaking in his time with us over the weekend. 👏 He debated timely and timeless topics facing our country, and did so with poise, clarity, and respect. Being selected out of an applicant pool of nearly 500 students, with a 24% acceptance rate, Christian excelled in his participation and skill. Way to go!! 🐬#SRCDS1stChoice

We are thankful for the Chancellor's Leadership Academy, hosted annually by the Florida Department of Education. For the 2025-2026 school year, Kasie Windfelder and Rachelle Wood are attending this professional learning opportunity. Mrs. Windfelder is the current principal at Navarre High School and the future principal at Soundside High School (beginning in January 2026). Mrs. Wood serves as the assistant principal at East Bay K8. We look forward to the knowledge they bring back to our students and schools!! 💙💚#SRCDS1stChoice

‼️ Rooms Issues Due to Amazon Web Services Outage ‼️ We are aware some Apple/iOS users are having trouble logging in to the Thrillshare app (staff) and SRCDS Rooms app (parents) for communication due to issues related to Amazon web services. Temporary Solution: We recommend parents use a browser to login to Rooms while we wait for Amazon to repair their services. They can log in via www.edurooms.com and use their credentials (phone or email) linked to their child in FOCUS. When we have an update, we will make you aware. Thanks for your patience!
