School Choice, Student Transfers & Controlled Open Enrollment
At Wallace Lake K–8, we believe that every student deserves access to a learning environment that best meets their individual needs. School Choice gives families greater flexibility when it comes to selecting the right school.
What is School Choice?
School Choice allows families to apply for a public school outside of their zoned school based on availability and eligibility. It empowers parents to make informed decisions about where their child learns, grows, and thrives.
Controlled Open Enrollment
Controlled Open Enrollment allows students to apply to attend a public school in our district—regardless of where they live. Families from within or outside the district may apply to schools that have open seats. COE supports equitable access to educational opportunities and encourages a diverse school community.
Student Transfers
We understand that sometimes a change in schools is necessary due to family needs, academic programs, or personal circumstances. Student transfers may be requested for a variety of reasons, including:
Specialized programs not available at the zoned school
Family relocation
Safety concerns
Sibling placement
Transfers are reviewed based on space availability and other district guidelines.
