Registering new students

Step 1: Register your child for school in the Santa Rosa County school system online through the FOCUS Family Portal.

Step 2: Once you have completed the on-line registration, you will need to contact your zoned school to make an appointment to complete the enrollment process.

(Note: For enrollment transfers out of zone, the registration process must be completed before any transfer request can be processed.)

Timeline: Most schools begin the kindergarten registration process at the end of April, lasting through the summer months.

Student transfers

The Controlled Open Enrollment transfer period for Santa Rosa County runs from April 12th through May 28st. Access the Transfer Form, the 24-25 School Choice Plan and the 24-25 Controlled Open Enrollment Capacity Chart on the Santa Rosa School District School Choice page. Directions for completing the transfer form and submitting it can also be found there. Parents without internet can pick up a paper copy from the front office. If you have questions regarding the transfer process, please contact your student’s Grade Level Director at 850 983-5150.

Kindergarten Registration

Registration for kindergarten begins in April through summer for the next school year, although the earlier, the better.

TO ENTER KINDERGARTEN:

Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to attend kindergarten.

BRING COPIES OF THESE DOCUMENTS:

• Florida Certificate of Immunization (Form 680)

• Parent's valid picture ID (needed to enter school building)

• Child's birth certificate

• Proof of residence (current utility bill within the last 30 days)

• Child's social security card (optional)

Please plan to BRING YOUR CHILD with you so they can complete a quick screening (letters, sounds, and numbers).
