Jaguar students, staff, and families—today we celebrate School Librarian Appreciation Day, and we are proud to recognize our incredible Hobbs Middle School librarian, Annie Martillano!

Mrs. Martillano’s library is so much more than just a place for books—it’s a true classroom where learning comes to life. She regularly teaches engaging literacy lessons that help our students grow as readers, thinkers, and learners.

She is also a driving force behind many of our school’s literacy initiatives, including Literacy Week and Parent Night, creating meaningful opportunities for our students and families to connect through reading.

Most importantly, Mrs. Martillano inspires a genuine passion for learning and literacy in our students every single day. Her impact reaches far beyond the library walls, and we are so grateful for all she does for Hobbs Middle School!

Jaguar students, staff, and families!

Hobbs Middle School proudly hosted today its first AVID Career Day, giving students the opportunity to hear from professionals representing a wide range of careers. One of the most significant impacts of our AVID program is building students’ opportunity knowledge, and today’s Career Day helped expose students to real people working in a variety of professions. Each guest speaker shared valuable insight about their career path, education, and experiences in their field. Through AVID, this is the type of authentic, real-world learning students experience at Hobbs Middle School.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our guest speakers who helped make this event such a success:

⭐ Lt. Melanie Roger – Miami-Dade Fire Department
⭐ Shawn Housh – Welder
⭐ Brad Davis – Pilot, American Airlines
⭐ 1st Lt. William Ratajczyk – United States Marine Corps
⭐ Greg Brown – Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser
⭐ Kim Gonzalez – Department of Homeland Security
⭐ Christopher Brown – Radiology Manager, HCA West Florida Hospital

Your willingness to share your time, knowledge, and experiences helped inspire our AVID students and provided them with a meaningful look at the many opportunities available to them in the future.

We are grateful for your support and look forward to continuing this new tradition of AVID Career Day at Hobbs Middle School! 💚
