Good afternoon, Seahawk Families!
We are so excited to welcome our Seahawks back to school on Monday, October 19th. We certainly hope that all of our Seahawk families are making positive strides toward recovery after the effects of our recent hurricane. HNIS is ready to welcome back our students and to provide a warm and loving learning environment to restore some normalcy to our everyday lives . If your family is in need of support or resources, please contact your child’s teacher or our school office at 850-936-6020 for information.
In case of additional car riders this week, here are a few reminders about our car rider procedures. The car rider line should be entered from the Publix side, heading west. Parents will not be able to turn left into the car rider line coming from the other direction. Our gates for car rider usually close around 7:10am to keep students from being marked as tardy. If you arrive after that time, please park in the front of the school and escort your child into the front office with a state issued ID. To streamline the process, please make sure that your student is ready to exit the vehicle when you enter the car rider line. The car rider line starts at the first basketball hoop pole. This will make it quicker for all HNI families.
Please scroll to the bottom of this message to view the information sent on 10/16 from our Superintendent about bus schedules, medication, and supports available for families as we return to school.
***Please make note of the upcoming dates and reminders for the week:

***Message from Dr. Barber on 10/16 regarding SRCDS schools re-opening:
Transportation Information
Regular bus routes will be operational on Monday. If any bus stop is moved, due to debris, notification will be sent to those students affected through the My Ride K12 app. The county will work to remove debris from those locations before students return to school on Monday.
Because debris removal across the county is expected to continue for several weeks, parents and guardians are asked to walk students to and from their bus stops each morning and afternoon to help ensure their safety. Parents or guardians picking up students from the bus must present a photo ID.
Medication Information
Due to recent power outages, temperature-sensitive medications stored in school clinic refrigerators have been compromised, and any affected temperature-sensitive medications, including insulin and other refrigerated medications, must be discarded and replaced before they can be administered at school.
If your child has a medication stored in the school clinic that requires refrigeration or temperature-controlled storage, please contact your child's healthcare provider and/or pharmacy as soon as possible to obtain a replacement medication. Once obtained, please provide the replacement medication to the school clinic. School health staff may contact you directly if records indicate that your child has medication stored at school that may have been affected by the power outage. If you have any questions, please contact your school's clinic staff.
We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to school on Monday, October 19 and returning to a sense of routine while recovery efforts continue throughout our community.
Community Resources
Families who need assistance can access the following resources:
211 Northwest Florida is available 24 hours a day. Call or text 211 to connect with storm-related services, resources, and support.
For assistance with storm cleanup, contact the Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 1-800-451-1954.

We are thrilled to announce that the scheduled book fair for 10/19-10/23 is still happening! Even better- at this fair EVERY student will get to take home a book for FREE! HNIS is dedicating Title 1 Funding to enhance our literacy initiatives by providing every Seahawk student with a new book.
Of course, students and families are also welcome to shop the fall fair as usual.
Visit our bookfair homepage (linked below) to preview the fair, shop online, or create an E-Wallet for your student to use for cashless shopping. All leftover e-wallet funds will be sent to the e-wallet creator as a gift card, and can be used at future Scholastic book fairs!
Our book fair homepage: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/holleynavarreintermschool
Please note: The materials available for purchase at the Book Fair were not selected by the Santa Rosa County District Schools. Parents may return or exchange any item purchased through the end of the fair at noon on October 23. You can visit the scholastic fair homepage to review the titles available and review your student's wish list before the fair.

We sincerely hope that you and your families are safe- and that you are safely mitigating any damage to your personal property. Please see the message below that was just sent out by the Superintendent.
Schools will remain closed through Friday, October 16th. We look forward to seeing our Seahawks on Monday, October 19th. Thank you and take care.
A message from the Superintendent:
After careful consideration and respect for our community, the Santa Rosa County School Board unanimously voted at this morning’s regularly scheduled School Board meeting, to remain closed through Friday, October 16th. School will resume on Monday, October 19th.
This extension will allow for continued work at our school sites to ensure safety for our students and staff and provide additional time for our community to recover.
If there are specific schools on Monday still without power or where restoration work has not been completed, we will notify families in advance.
The school calendar will be adjusted as a result of the additional days of closure.
On behalf of Dr. Barber, our thoughts continue to be with all of our school district family. If families are in need of resources during this time, please contact the United Way at 211 for resources and support.
Please stay tuned to district communication channels – including our Facebook, Instagram, and the SRCDS app through Rooms – throughout the week for any additional information.
We will let you know when we have more information about Wednesday and beyond.
