On Friday, April 11th, 2025, Gulf Breeze Elementary’s third-grade scholars stepped back in time to the majestic world of the 15th century during our 2025 Third Grade Medieval Festival! The campus was magically transformed into a bustling medieval castle, complete with lords, ladies, knights, kings, and queens.
The festivities began with a grand procession through the main hall, where students and staff, adorned in splendid period costumes, marched in true royal fashion. Attendees were transported to an age of chivalry and charm through captivating, hands-on demonstrations led by none other than the Society for Creative Anachronism, experts in medieval arts and history.
Throughout the morning, students journeyed through a series of immersive medieval experiences, including storytelling with bards, lively music and dancing, the artistry of guilds, displays of armor, medieval cooking, heraldry, and thrilling heavy fighting demonstrations. Each station offered a unique glimpse into the life and culture of the Middle Ages.
At the heart of this unforgettable event is Mrs. Renee Peden, a third-grade teacher whose unwavering dedication and creative brilliance have shaped this tradition for an incredible 29 years. Her passion for history and education continues to ignite a love of learning in every student fortunate enough to wear a crown or wield a (foam) sword. The 2025 Medieval Festival was not just a celebration of history, it was a celebration of imagination, community and the magic of learning.
