Mrs. Garcia and her amazing family made Gulf Breeze their home 9 years ago, and they love it here. The Garcias are a proud military family who have travelled, lived, and worked both in the United States and internationally, compliments of her husband’s service to our country in the Air Force. He now serves as an AFJROTC Instructor at Gulf Breeze High School. They have two children at GBHS, and their oldest is starting his first year as a cadet at the Air Force Academy. Mrs. Garcia is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. Her 20+ years of experience in education include 11 years serving as an assistant principal in Colorado and at Oriole Beach Elementary, just down the road from us here at GBE. Her classroom teaching positions span grades PreK-6th in locales such as Morocco, Venezuela, Nevada, Germany/DoDDS, and Colorado. She earned her Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from UNLV and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from The University of Denver. To quote a colleague, “Mrs. Garcia embodies the special characteristics it takes to be a highly effective leader.” With her strong work ethic, family values, love of children and education, her passion shines through.

Assistant Principal Kim McChesney
Mrs. McChesney is a Gulf Breeze native! She attended Gulf Breeze Elementary, Gulf Breeze Middle, and Gulf Breeze High School. After graduating from GBHS, she attended the University of West Florida and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Wanting to live in a bigger city, she moved to Tampa, Florida and began her teaching career. While teaching, she continued her education at the University of South Florida (GO BULLS!) and earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. After working in Tampa for several years, she decided to move back to Gulf Breeze to be closer to her family. In 2011, she was selected as the new Assistant Principal at GBE. In her free time, she enjoys camping with her husband and two sons. Roasting marshmallows and making s’mores are tops on her favorite things to do.
