Positive Behavior Support

What is PBS?

PBS (Positive Behavior Support) is a school-wide program that addresses the behavior of ALL students.

The PBS program acknowledges and rewards students who display positive behavior during the school day. So many times we focus on the negative aspects and fail to take notice of the leadership and values of displayed by the majority of students.

Our desire is that each student builds a foundation for good character and grows into a leader and productive citizen for our community and nation. In addition, we want students to realize that wih positive behavior comes positive rewards.

School Rules

BALL Rules

Faculty, staff and students follow the BALL rules to ensure that each child at HNP receives a firm academic foundation and are able to develop responsibility, self-discipline and a desire to learn. Students will learn what each letter of the BALL rules mean and how to follow them.

MEAL Program

The cafeteria utilizes the MEAL program. MEAL stands for Music Enrichment At Lunch and was initiated by our PBS committee to encourage positive behavior in the lunchroom.

During lunch, when the music is playing, students are expected to eat quietly. When the music is off, students are able to socialize at an appropriate volume.

The purpose is twofold. 1 - to create a calmer, quieter environment in our cafeteria 2 - to encourage students to eat more of their lunches, thereby reducing waste.
