CAPE Career Academies
Academies are small, personalized learning communities within a school in which students and teachers participate during a three or four-year span. Certifications can affect your career opportunities. With such rapid technology growth, people who stay ahead of the technology curve increase their marketability and have a competitive edge.
Students in the Multimedia & Technology Academy have many opportunities to earn various industry certifications. Digital Design students can certify as an Adobe Certified Associate certification in the following areas: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. Students in the Career Themed Academy have the opportunity to earn the Microsoft Office Specialist certification and students enrolled in the Medical & Health Professions Academy will have the opportunity to earn a Certified Medical Assistant certification.
CAPE Academy teachers must obtain specialty certifications in addition to Florida teaching certificates, in the areas of specialty in which they are testing their students for Industry Certifications.
GBHS offers four CAPE Career Academies: The GBHS Academy of Multimedia Design & Technology (no application required), The GBHS Academy for Medical & Health Professions (application required), Hospitality Management (no application required), and Teaching Academy (applications required).
