EME PBIS

Our Houses PBIS & CKH Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a process for creating a school environment that is positive, consistent, and proactive by helping students become aware of their behaviors and learn how to self-regulate and rise to their full potential while teachers work on capturing kids’ hearts. Our school has been trained in Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH). We will implement greeting at the door, good things, social contracts, the 4 questions, and launches. Each classroom will create a social contract with their students and use it to remind students of expectations. We work on building relationships with each individual and as a class as well as ask 4 questions when students get off track (see questions in the chart). “If you have a child’s heart, you have his head!” - Flip Flippen. Our school uses a house system to help create a community bond through 5 houses that use positive behavior to help build character, relationships, and school spirit. Each student and staff member is randomly assigned to a house. Students reveal their house color in kindergarten or are new to the school and remains a proud member of this house through 5th grade. One of our PBIS goals is for students to earn as many positive behavior points as possible for their house by showing they EXCEL!
